ELECT BILL JUKES

For Ward 6 Councillor

Port Dover & Renton, Norfolk County

For over 17 years, Bill Jukes has protected Ward 6 as a volunteer firefighter at Station 2 in Port Dover. A lifelong Norfolk resident, business owner, and your neighbour, Bill is running for Ward 6 Councillor to bring a common sense voice to the table, one focused on core services, responsible growth, and the trust this community deserves.

Meet Bill

I am not a career politician, I am your neighbour.

Bill Jukes grew up in Port Rowan and has called Port Dover home since 1985. He attended three local high schools, Port Dover, Valley Heights, and Delhi Secondary, before earning an Honours Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University in 1993. Three generations of his family have lived and worked in Norfolk County.

Bill has spent his life building things here. In 1995 he started The Hot Tub Company, selling and renting Softubs, before selling the business in 2000. He then spent about a decade as a construction site superintendent, and in 2005 he founded Lakeshore Enterprises, a renovation and construction company he still runs today, taking on projects across Norfolk County and Hamilton, including work for Norfolk County directly. That experience has given him a firsthand understanding of how the County operates and where taxpayer dollars go.

For over 17 years, Bill has also served his community as a volunteer firefighter at Station 2 in Port Dover, protecting the people of Ward 6. He’s given his time in other ways too, coaching and training Port Dover minor hockey for nearly a decade and volunteering as an announcer for the Port Dover Sailors. He comes from a family dedicated to civic service, and he’s running for council to carry on that tradition, with a focus on the core services residents count on and a council they can trust.

Core services first

Bill’s approach to council is simple: focus on the essentials residents rely on every day, and get them right before anything else. These are the services that keep Ward 6 running, and they deserve a councillor who treats them as the priority.

Water

Reliable, clean water is the foundation of any community. Bill will make sure it stays a top priority at the council table.

Waste Water

Proper wastewater and infrastructure keep Ward 6 healthy and growing responsibly. Bill will push for these systems to be managed carefully and cost-effectively.

Roads

Safe, well-maintained roads matter to everyone who lives and works in Ward 6. Bill will focus on the practical improvements residents actually need.

Community Safety

Having served Ward 6 as a firefighter for over 17 years, Bill knows what it takes to keep a community safe, and he’ll bring that same commitment to council.

Where Bill stands on the issues facing Ward 6

Norfolk County

Fair Taxes

With the rising costs around water, wastewater, and the new waste management program, Norfolk County taxes had to go up. But Bill believes they have risen too much, too fast. He’ll bring a business owner’s eye to the budget and push for spending that respects what residents can actually afford.

Ward 6

Roads & Community Safety

Bill believes it’s time for real improvements to the intersections Ward 6 residents drive every day, including roundabouts at key crossings where they’re needed most. These are practical, common sense fixes, and Bill knows the need is already clear without waiting on another costly consultant’s report.

Ward 6

Responsible Growth Near Industry

Bill has concerns about large-scale housing being built so close to heavy industry, and believes it’s the wrong approach. While this proposal falls outside Norfolk County’s purview, Bill will stay focused on the issues that directly affect Ward 6 and Norfolk County, and on making sure our community’s voice is heard.

Port Dover

Protect Port Dover Harbour

Port Dover’s harbour and marina are part of what makes this community special. Bill wants to see the harbour remain public property, while exploring ways to help it thrive, like leasing space for a restaurant, shops, or even a summer concert series that brings people and business to the waterfront.

Ward 6

Our Waterfront, Tourism & Agriculture

What makes Ward 6 special is it's blend of lakeside tourism, commercial fishing, and agricultural heritage, a mix found nowhere else in Norfolk County. But that character comes with a real challenge: balancing heavy seasonal tourism with the needs of year-round residents.

Bill understands both sides of it. Tourism and agriculture are the lifeblood of Ward 6, but they put real pressure on local services, seasonal waste management, downtown parking and traffic, and the rural roads and drainage our farmers depend on. Core services first means clearing the backlog on rural drainage and road maintenance, managing the busy tourist season well, and keeping our waterfront clean and working for everyone.

Our farmers and downtown businesses drive this economy, and Bill will make sure they aren’t left behind as the community grows.

Ward 6

The Future of Ward 6

Bill wants Ward 6 to keep its small-town feel through responsible growth, while protecting the agricultural heritage that defines our community. Norfolk County has blossomed with craft breweries, cideries, and wineries, a welcome addition that builds on that farming tradition, and Bill wants to see local industry like this continue to thrive. His goal is simple: a community that stays a safe place for our kids to grow up.

Deep roots, and a record of service

Who can you trust to represent you?

Bill believes trust is the most important issue in this election. The question every resident should ask is simple: who do you trust to represent you at the council table?

Bill comes from a family dedicated to civic service, and he’s spent his life earning that trust here, protecting Ward 6 as a firefighter, building a business, and raising a family in this community. He’s ready to carry that tradition forward, and he’s asking for your vote to do it.
